Olds College has an urban campus in the heart of Canada’s fourth largest city. It was established in 2006 and is proud of its partnership with the Calgary Stampede. Through this endeavor, they were able to create an Olds College Campus at Stampede Park, which allowed them to have more access to land (193 acres). Today, it plays a major role in expanding the learning opportunities of students for a broader range of academic programs particularly in rural-urban information. It is also playing a part in enhancing and improving the programs about sustainable development of Western Canada.
At the College's School of Innovation, research is conducted on an assortment of new products, from crops and bio-processing, natural fibers, livestock genetics and nutrition, environmental microbiology, and composting technology (such as bio-gas energy). Old College also offers students residence accommodations at the Frank Grisdale Hall and the College Courts Townhouse Complex.
The College offers the following services: Campus Life, Campus Facilities, Campus Security, Conference Services, Counsellor, Continuing Education, Fitness Centre, Health Services, Human Resources, International Office, Learning Assistance Centre, Office of Advancement, Olds College Students’ Association, Residence Office, Student Services Officers (Admissions, Awards, Financial Assistance, Job Postings).
The student body is represented by the Olds College Students’ Association. Aside from representing the needs, issues and priorities of the students, they also provides services such as Health Insurance Clubs, Student Board of Directors, and Housing Lists. For those who are into clubs, they can also choose from among two kinds of existing clubs: Program and Special Interest Clubs. For students who are into athletics, they can become part of the varsity team of the College. The Olds College Broncos compete in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference in Basketball, Futsal, Curling, and Volleyball.
Olds College offers programs in the areas of Agriculture, Animal Sciences, Business Administration, Fashion, Horticulture, Land and Water Resources, and Trades and Technology.
The College offers entrance bursaries, entrance scholarships, bursaries, scholarships, and awards to deserving students. Some of them include: Alberta Blue Cross 50th Anniversary Entrance Scholarship, Arthur Reddon Memorial Bursary, ASET Scholarship, Bev and Buck, Class of 1951 Continuing Entrance Award, Board of Governors Entrance Scholarship, Cargill AgHorizons Scholarship, Dr. Dan Cornish Memorial Award, and many others.
Olds is a small town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 61 km south of Red Deer, the nearest large community, along Highway 2A and the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks. With a population of over 7200 people and growing, Olds boasts all the facilities and activities usually found in much larger centres - arts and culture, recreation facilities, libraries, a museum, movie theatre, festivals, concerts, and a great selection of restaurants and accommodation - and Olds College has the perfect facilities and amenities for your convention group.
